>Podium for Moraitis

The Greek rider Vasilis Moraitis participated in the Masters Ski Open class for a third year. He rode fairly well at the first moto and he managed to climb up to the sixth place, by riding a barely limited race craft (having only a cylinder head, pipe and impeller) among well prepared Superstocks. His ride was a lot better in the second moto where he reached up to second place (which he lost at the end of the race since he had not realized that he was in second place), a result that gave him the overall third place in the class. Moraitis is the only Greek rider who has ever reached the podium in a class of the World Finals of the IJSBA and the only one who has been giving points to his country for the past three years. For his success a much owed big “Thank you” to his race team from Seattle, a special thanks to Brian and his Greek mate Akis Malouchos.

>The Greeks at the World Finals

Greek athletes Akis Malouchos and Vasilis Moraitis will compete for the fifth year in the row at the World Finals, which will be held at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The two athletes will run in Pro Am Ski Stock and Masters Ski Open class respectively. They have been training hard and will depart at the end of the month. Moraitis is the only Greek rider who had got points at the World Finals, of IJSBA, by finishing 9th the last two years, while Malouchos has finished a respectable 11th place at his class. Their international race activity is self-supported since local support is nonexistent.

>Elif Hoffer turned Pro

Seattle based, U.S.A. athlete, Elif Hofer, had an exceptional performance as a Novice last year, and has recently turned Pro, she will compete at the Pro-AM Women Ski this year at the World Finals. She does a lot of gym work and rides her race craft (which is prepared by her husband Wayne Hofer) as often as she can. This year, she is supported by Hot Products Riva Motosports, Scott, Klotz Lubricants, 1-90 Motosports and Impros.

>Laho on top

The Multi National and World champion has come back in the racing scene, proving that she is in shape according to her results in Nevada. Laho won the women class, riding in a class of her own, her Super Jet which is prepared by Rius Racing. Laho won the race, finishing ahead of Emi Kanamori (who was the toughest contender in last year’s World Finals) and Nikki Goundreau. This year the Pro Am Women Ski will be one of the most exciting classes at the World Finals.

>Dauliach in winning mode

Last year’s European champion, Frenchman, Steven Dauliach won the GP Ski class in Croatia after getting one wins and two places in the podium. Rius also came up very strong winning two motos and a fourth place. Since the official results have not been announced yet, we do not know for sure who the favorite for this year’s title is. The title still seems to be open for a few riders therefore the last race in Paris will be very exciting.

>Malouchos remains powerfull

Multi champion Akis Malouchos has a steady place in the podium in both, Pro Ski and Pro Runabout Open classes. At the 6th round of the season he won both motos in the Pro Ski class, a mark that makes him unbeatable in the class. On the other hand a broken steering cable, in the first moto of the Pro Runabout Open class, slowed him down from winning the moto. Though, he won the second moto of the class next day. Therefore, the popular racer has come even closer to the title in both classes. He is the only Greek rider who has won the title in the past in both classes in the same season, and most probably he will succeed again this year.

>Rius wins in Portugal

The French rider appeared very strong in the famous wet terrain of Portugal, where he won all, three motos, in the GP Ski class. As a result he climbed to the top of the podium ahead of Urbain and Monti. Younger rider Botti finished fourth overall ahead of his teammate, and last years European champion Steven Dauliach. Though, the Rius Team informed the, that his race craft is not legible for the IJSBA, World Finals, therefore, the team does know yet whether it will be able to prepare a new race craft in order to participate at the World Finals this year.
