If you take a closer look at the EME800 or EME1000 pole bracket you will notice that the deck surface is strengthened by a thick carbon fiber layer. According to Eric Malone this particular area of the deck gets under severe load and pressure during the freestyle routine. Therefore, standard Skis usually can not withstand under these kind of loads. Using his vast experience he reinforced the deck by adding the pictured thick carbon layer in order to increase the torsional rigidity and enhanced stability as well as to secure the safety of the rider during practice.
