>UWP-IJSBA National Tour 2012 Final Round: Friday Pro Runabout

In the Runabout portion of the challenge the benchmark was set at 30.35 by the eventual runner up Troy Snyder on his Snyder Built Neptune Racing Sea-Doo. Coming in just .14 of a second behind Snyder was Extreme Propulsion Sea-Doo rider Stan Hightower. The winner in the class and only competitor to go under 30 seconds was Champion Powersports Sea-Doo jockey Brian Baldwin. Baldwin even went a little wide in the straight away picking up an extra buoy but that didn't stop him from winning with his 29.69 second run.

>Weymouth replaces Southampton as venue for 2012 title decider

London, 14th August 2012 – Weymouth is the new venue for the finale of the P1 AquaX Championship, when the four national jet ski titles will be decided over the weekend of Saturday/Sunday, 15/16th September. The Olympic sailing venue of Weymouth will host the first ever visit of the P1 AquaX Championship to Dorset with the coastal resort replacing Southampton in the 2012 calendar. With prestigious national titles up for grabs in the UK’s most popular personal watercraft racing championship, the Weymouth weekend is set to deliver first class free-to-watch action in Weymouth Bay. Spectators will be able to get close to the 30+ riders thanks to a race paddock location along North Pier. It will be a weekend of top level watersports action as London-based championship promoter Powerboat P1 is also bringing its thrilling P1 SuperStock UK powerboat championship to Weymouth to race alongside its jet ski series. “The crowds coming to watch will see spectacular racing in Weymouth Bay from the pier and esplanade provided by our jet skis and powerboats. The sight of around 30 jet skis racing has to be seen to be believed”, commented AquaX Championship Manager Lisa Barsby. “The series has trebled in size this year and our finale is the most eagerly anticipated race weekend of the year by our riders. Weymouth is going to witness some exciting, close fought race action from both the powerboats and jet skis.” The race meeting is being organised by Powerboat P1 in conjunction with UKOBA (United Kingdom Off-Shore Boating Association) and governing body the RYA. UKOBA has successfully organised powerboat racing in Weymouth for the past three years and invited Powerboat P1 to bring its prestigious national championships to the Dorset town. Teams will arrive in Weymouth on Friday, 14th September with the action starting on Saturday morning with a 20-minute qualifying race followed by the points scoring round in the afternoon and the final round of the championships on Sunday. The 2012 AquaX champions will then be crowned in the podium ceremony on Sunday afternoon. The move to Weymouth is the result of a failure to resolve an unforeseen sponsor conflict issue that caused concern with the organisers of the Southampton Boat Show. The penultimate rounds of both the P1 SuperStock and P1 AquaX championships take place in Cowes on 25/26th August.

>Stars of AquaX head to Cowes for biggest event of 2012

Cowes on the Isle of Wight is preparing for the arrival in a fortnight’s time of the UK’s fastest growing form of motorsport, the P1 AquaX Championship, when at least 30 jet-ski racers will take to the waters around Egypt Point on Saturday, 25 August. Featuring a total of four all-action classes, P1 AquaX has taken a massive leap forward in 2012 in terms of both competitiveness and popularity. Following a highly successful debut season last year the series is attracting more and more riders from the length and breadth of the UK. Vastly experienced offshore racer Russell Marmon (Christchurch, Dorset), the inaugural champion, is currently leading the way in the premier 300 Class astride his trusty Kawasaki Ultra 300 but he is being chased hard by fellow Kawasaki rider Jim Goodchild (Hemel Hempstead). Just seven points separate the two main contenders going into the two AquaX races in Cowes, the fourth event of the season, but should either slip-up Tim Batte (Hinckley) and Kevin Ashley (London) are close behind. Fifth in the 300 Class, and also leader of the standalone Sea-Doo Challenge, is Steve Robinson (Hedon) but he has his hands full in the battle for Sea-Doo honours with ever-improving car racing champion Paul Rivett (Banstead) who is in his first season of jet-ski competition. Rivett, who doubles-up by racing in the AirAsia Renault UK Clio Cup where he is the 2011 title holder, has taken the class victory in the last three races and is an increasingly realistic threat to the aspirations of fellow RXP-X 260 mounted Robinson. As in the headline 300 Class, the 250 battle is extremely close with Kawasaki’s Mat Shipley (Peacehaven) holding a slim five point advantage over fellow Ultra 250 racer Dave Huddleston (Milton Keynes). Huddleston has gradually closed the gap to Shipley over the last two events in Hull and Eastbourne and could move to the top of the table in Cowes if he continues in that form. The Kawasaki duo are currently well clear in the 250 championship fight, meaning that third placed Rob Sired (Littlehampton) needs to rely on misfortune for his rivals if he is to mount a late-season push on his Sea-Doo RXP-X 255. Last, but certainly not least, is the heavily subscribed 200 Class in which Duncan Johnstone (Fareham) is on course to retain his crown. Having said that, the Yamaha FX 160 rider is only nine points ahead of Kawasaki’s Khris Leach (Maidstone) as AquaX heads to the Isle of Wight – due to the latter making up some ground on his rival last time out. Third in the 200s is female racer Anya Colley (Long Eaton) who has delivered some sensational performances so far. At the last event in Eastbourne, the multiple title-winning racer joined forces with former X-Factor contestant Katy Bullock (Doncaster) to establish an ‘all-girl’ team. Neither are in AquaX to simply make up the numbers – they’re fast, talented and extremely determined! Joined by the P1 SuperStock Championship as part of the British Powerboat Festival in Cowes, P1 AquaX will be in action at Egypt Point on the Isle of Wight on Saturday, 25 August, with the racing taking place between 11.30 and 16.30. Further entertainment will be provided, as ever, by freestyle jet-ski champion Jack Moule. >UWP-IJSBA National Tour 2012 Rd-6:Pro-Am Ski GP Moto2

The Pro Ski GP class was full of surprises on Sunday and unfortunately for Jimmy Wilson they were not all good. Wilson went into the final moto with his OptimaRacing.com #300 firmly in the first position with two moto wins to his credit. However nerves got the better of him and he jumped the band on the start and was penalized with a dead engine start in moto 3 which allowed Rockstar Bullett Hulls rider Rob Flores to grab the overall by winning the last moto. The drama wasn't limited to the top two because Rick Sherker recovered from a disastrous 10th place finish in moto two and with his 2nd in moto three was able to plant himself on the final step of the box.
