>X Factor girl racer joins Aqua Cross

A new all-girl team has joined the fast-growing P1 AquaX Series, with the squad making its debut in the championship’s third round in Eastbourne this weekend. An X Factor finalist from 2009, Katy Bullock (Doncaster) has teamed up with leading British jet ski racer Anya Colley (Long Eaton, Leicestershire) to form the new outfit which is racing against 20 other riders in the East Sussex town as part of this weekend’s Eastbourne Extreme festival. Although Katy - pictured above left - is an experienced motorcycle racer, she has never raced at sea or on a jet ski. “I’m addicted to the thrill of speed, so when I was asked if I’d like to form a new team in AquaX with Anya I jumped at the chance”, said the 20-year old promotional model. “I know it’s going to be a tough start but I believe the skills of balance and control developed over the years on my motorbike will help me cope with the ever changing conditions at sea.” Katy has been riding off road motorcycles since the age of 5 and started competing in the exacting sport of Trials before moving onto the daredevil world of Motocross racing. “I’m the mud girl of the duo”, commented Katy, “whilst Anya is the water girl! Motocross is really exciting but also quite dangerous, so I’m hoping AquaX will be a bit safer.” Teammate Anya- pictured abiove right - is an ideal mentor for novice rider Katy as she starts her career racing at sea, having won numerous jet ski titles including world and British championships despite being just 20 years old. “I’m also in love with speed like Katy and now want to have a go at motocross racing”, she said. Backing for the team comes from motorsport mad Simon Wing (Newark) and his JTW Joinery business. Rally driver Simon also plans for Katy to take part in the daunting Isle of Man rally later in the year and is also thinking about racing in AquaX himself this season. Simon made his powerboat racing debut this year as navigator in the Edox Swiss Watches Panther 250 in Powerboat P1’s headline championship which runs alongside AquaX. The JTW Joinery team makes its debut today in the Eastbourne Grand Prix of the Sea race meeting, before racing in the Solent at Cowes on 25/26th August.

>Aqua Cross thrills for East Bourne Extreme

London, 4 July – Britain’s premier offshore jet-ski racers are preparing to tackle their second new challenge in as many events on 14/15 July when the P1 AquaX Championship arrives in Eastbourne for round three of the 2012 season. After visiting Hull in East Yorkshire for the first time last month, the fast-paced high-octane motorsport series will make its maiden appearance in the Sussex seaside town just over a week from now as part of the hugely popular free sports festival, Eastbourne Extreme. Only a single point separates P1 AquaX Championship pace-setters Russell Marmon (Christchurch, Dorset) and Jim Goodchild (Hemel Hempstead) at the top of the 300 Class rider standings, with reigning champion Marmon edging ahead last time out on incredibly choppy waters in gale force conditions. Goodchild, who injured his ribs during the first of the two encounters in Hull following a heavy landing, will be keen to return to winning ways in Eastbourne but the two Kawasaki aces will have to keep an eye on Londoner Kevin Ashley (pictured above by Gary Bray) who starred in East Yorkshire with his first victory.

>Benelli 2013 series is not IJSBA homologated yet

The recent Benelli-Group launch gave us the suspicion about whether those 2013 models are homologated for racing. According to Scott Frazier, managing director of IJSBA, Benelli-Group has no communication with IJSBA or even they have not sent any documentation recently. Although the italian base company plans to start the production of the new units by the end of July, in order to sell them in the beginning of September they will not be allowed for racing.
