>Quinten on a bicycle

Quinten Boss’s wet suit was hanging there at TechOneRacing’s booth at the World Finals Performance Alley though Quinten did no show up since he decided to stop racing. Sponsors are going away from the sport and the sport is getting more expensive. So where is Quinten? Lately he was spotted training on his bicycle.

>Riva HydroDrag Fall National results

HydroDrag National was completed last weekend with great success. Rider attendance was superb and new records were broken. Ron Allison, a Senior citizens at 67 years old won the Superstock class by using an R&D C24 Supercharger wheeel. The official speed on the malfunctioning radar gun in 660 feet (1/8 mile) was 90mph. However the GPS recorded 95. Eric Lagopoulos was the 800 2-Stroke class. Kerry Hibdon was another R&D supported rider who won the Limited class by using a Yamaha and an R6 ECU and he clocked 86mph. This picture was posted on Facebook lately and it actually gives the answer to those entire riders who still wonder why Jeff “The Jammer” Jacobs was the best rider ever in this sport. Take a closer look –unfortunately the picture is small- to the angle of the craft and his body.

>Pastorello raced in X-2 class

Jean-Bruno Pastorello flew to Havasu in order to race at the X-2 class. He had bought a new X-2 that it was equipped with a Bullett Racing hull and a highly tuned engine. The Gen2 hull according to his sayings had changed the overall performance of the boat. The lightweight feeling of the hull as well as its new design and features needed more practice from the rider to benefit its advantages. After the World Finals we had the opportunity to inspect his craft when we visited Bullett Racing premises.

>Rob Flores on a Bullett hull

Rob Flores was the first rider who attempted to put a three-cylinder Kawasaki in to a stand up hull and race it. He started of his project with the SXi Pro hull and the he proceeded with the SX-R one (we tested his race craft exclusively last year). This year he used for the first time a Bullet Racing hull with one of his three cylinder engines. Actually he preferred the Gen2 hull which is the one that looks exactly as the Kawasaki SX-R hull. He scored a win on the first Moto of GP Ski class simply riding in a class of his in rough conditions.

>Yamaha VIP treatment

Yamaha was the only personal watercraft constructor that featured a VIP tend at the World Finals by the beach and behind the Jettribe booth. Supported athletes and VIP treated guests had the opportunity to get some rest and enjoy the free food and beverages not to mention the ice cold beer. Also there was on display most of the trophies that were earned during the racing week. It was nice to see Yamaha giving this treatment to their riders and special guests. Well done for Cullen, Watkins and Gonsalves...

IJSBA celebrated three decades of memorable excellence with France’s Steven Dauliach in Pro Ski, Great Britain’s James Bushell in Pro Runabout and Japan’s Sakaida Kazuaki in Pro Freestyle were crowned Pro champions. The personal watercraft racing extravaganza was held ones again at the Crazy Horse RV Resort and Campgrounds in Lake Havasu City, the only home the most prestigious global championship of PWC racing has ever known. Featuring 804 entries from 40 nations and 39 U.S. States, IJSBA World Championship titles were presented in a total of 48 closed-course racing classes as well as Pro Freestyle and Amateur Freestyle.Under brilliant sunshine, light winds, and nearly smooth water conditions, the final eight 2011 IJSBA World Championships were decided Sunday in front of a standing room only crowd of over 7,000 enthusiastic fans.
