London, Thursday, 17th May 2012 - Sea-Doo manufacturer BRP and London-based promoter Powerboat P1 have teamed up to unveil the first one-make series for off-shore personal watercraft with the introduction of the all new Sea-Doo Challenge UK 2012. The new series will run concurrently within P1s burgeoning AquaX UK Championship with all Sea-Doo riders eligible to challenge for honours in the new single-marque series as well as their own horsepower class. AquaX is clearly moving forward with double the number of riders this year, so we feel now is the right time to launch a Sea-Doo series, commented Tommi Salonen, BRPs Regional Commercial Manager UK and Ireland. The Sea-Doo Challenge will appeal to the riders of Sea-Doo watercraft in the recreational and musclecraft category right up to the high powered new RXP-X 260. I am sure it will grow stronger throughout the 2012 season. Owners of Sea-Doo watercraft score challenge points as well as AquaX championship points within their specific horsepower class as organisers anticipate more Sea-Doo riders than ever will take part in Britains only national championship held on the sea. A substantial prize fund is being finalised and details will be available shortly. There are 10 points scoring races at the five AquaX race meetings, and entrants will count their best four scores towards their total, to allow riders the maximum opportunity to feature in the title race. We have wanted to introduce something for a ski manufacturer for some time, so I am delighted Sea-Doo is coming aboard as it confirms the rising stature of the P1 AquaX series, commented AquaX Championship Manager Lisa Barsby. Around 30% of this years 22+ field ride Sea-Doo skis so the new Sea-Doo Challenge UK is a major boost for our competitors. Sea-Doo Challenge UK Boost For Newcomers: The introduction of the new Sea-Doo Challenge UK is not the only initiative from the partnership between Powerboat P1 and Sea-Doo as alongside the new series is a nationwide promotion to attract new riders into jet sport. For the remainder of the season unlimited free entries will be given to riders with every new Sea-Doo purchased in 2012 via the UK dealer network. Sea-Doo will also be along to all five AquaX championship rounds with a display area plus a demo fleet of skis for people to try from the second round in Hull onwards. In Plymouth the Sea-Doo fleet will be provided by local dealer Tony Hole Marine.
