Back in 2009 we had the exclusive opportunity to test Trinity Composites's SX-R replica hull through Steve Webster of Kommander Industries. Dustin Motzouris raced the particular race boat which was equipped with a Dasa big bore engine. Read all about it in the Race Tests section. OEM SX-R hull has been proved a very good hull and easy to set it up either with a twin or a triple Kawasaki engine or even a Rotax motor. Trinity Composites will soon reveal the new SX-R hood which will be available in the market.

Klipper plan to go close course racing on his Yamaha FX SVHO and recently he decided to get powered by R&D. Bill Chapin worked on his boat in order to install R&D’s latest turbo kit for the Yamaha engine as we tested it exclusively last October (Read all about it in the story published in the Tests section). It is exactly the same turbo kit that now has been installed in to Klipper’s FX. The engine still uses stock cams, stock cam gears, stock fuel injectors, stock fuel pump, stock regulator, etc. However, performance wise it does 76mph at 7800rpm on 9-10 pounds of boost, 78-79mph at 8000rpm on 11-12 pounds of boost and 82.5mph at 8350 on 13-14pounds of boost and according to Chapin it is a “ready to race” Offshore weapon.
