Jean-Bruno Pastorello and Amador Ferrer were the fastest riders on first days’ Oval Race. Both of them were riding in their own pace. Ferrer was more conservative but still he remained very fast compared to any other rider. Actually he mentioned “Whenever I was hearing a watercraft coming very close to me I knew it could be only Pastorello, so I was going a little bit on the right to give him some more room to pass me in a clean way.” Our camera captured one of those passes…

Spanish rider Amador Ferrer has participated many year on Jet Raid races and he came to Greece for second year in a row. He played it safe in the first day by finishing second in the morning’s Moto and in the afternoon where the conditions were rough he rode in a conservative pace during most of the race and he started lapping faster at the last ten minutes. As he mentioned “This is only the first day and if you do not save the boat you may end up braking on the very first day. This is not what I want.” He is very experienced and he won the Spanish Jet Raid series last year on the same craft.

Last years winner of Akropolis Jet Raid, Frenchman Jean-Bruno Pastorello proved to be the man to beat on his specifically tuned Kawasaki Ultra 300X. After winning Mark Hahn 300 3 months ago he visited Greece for second consecutive with the scope to defend his #1 plate. “I like the country, it is very beautiful and the rough water is a real challenge for me and my team.” Jean-Bruno mentioned at the noon brake. In the afternoon there was an oval race course of 70 miles which proved to be very tough since the rough water and the strong wind made it very difficult for all the competitors. Jean-Bruno Pastorello was the fastest rider under those conditions and he lapped everyone except from... himself! Some riders missed certain buoys among them Jean-Bruno too (he picked up one of them for sure) therefore the combined results of Day 1 are as follows: General Classification: J-B Pastorello 60, Amador Ferrer 50 Vidal-Lebas 46, Chris Stamboltzis 46 and Ente Sylvain 45. Class F1: J-B Pastorello 60, Amador Ferrer 50, Chris Stamboltzis 46, Ente Sylvain 45 and I.Markesinis 36. Class F2: Vidal-Lebas 46, Mosselman 37, Delgado-Lanza 33, Diaz-Diaz 28 and Gregorini-Loduca 24.

Akropolis Jet Raid takes place for second consecutive year in Greece and more than 40 riders visited the country from 13 countries. The number of entries is unique bearing in mind the global and European economic crisis. All riders enjoyed the passing through the Corinthian Channel which was a spectacular event.
