>AquaX at Autosport International Show

London, Wednesday, 18th January – P1 AquaX is all set for a significant increase in competitors in the wake of a very successful four days at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. Powerboat P1 returned to the country’s biggest motorsport show and the initiative looks to have paid off handsomely, with interest in AquaX running at an all-time high according to Championship Manager Lisa Barsby. “We had some very good feedback from people who first saw our stand at the show last year, so I am glad we returned to capitalise on the interest motorsport people are showing in Powerboat P1, said AquaX Championship Manager Lisa Barsby. “I was amazed by how many car racers we talked to who also own a jet ski and they showed a lot of interest in the series, so it was very good for raising our profile to potential racers.” Barsby says interest in AquaX is way above the same time last year following the series successful inaugural season and she is confident the number of riders will grow in 2012. “Last year all the serious people who contacted us took part and the number of racers who are now calling has dramatically increased so I believe AquaX will take a significant step forward this season”, she said. Reigning champion Russell Marmon (Christchurch) was amongst many AquaX stars who visited the Powerboat P1 stand at the NEC over last weekend. His title-winning Kawasaki Ultra 300 attracted huge interest from racers and the thousands of motorsport fans who attended the four-day show. AquaX UK was featured alongside Powerboat P1 stable-mate SuperStock UK and the striking Typhoo Panther 250 of Andy Wilby (Fleet) and Jonny Allbut (Southampton) . SuperStock is the only one-make championship on water in Britain and created a real stir amongst the cream of Britain’s car racing and rallying establishment. Regular car competitors were stunned by how cost-effective racing a Panther can be and P1 SuperStock UK will shortly announce the names of those making the cross over from four wheels to powerboats. “SuperStock UK certainly made an impact amongst drivers at the Autosport Show, so much so we’re now close to reaching our initial target for filling the P1 Panther grid”, commented P1 SuperStock UK Championship Manager Paolo Callea.

>Curtis won Daytona Freeride event

More than 300 stand up riders attended this year Daytona Freeride event. An incredible turn around bearing in mind the global economic crisis, etc. It was not an actual competition however Taylor Curtis made a point on his new Rickter XFR hull. “There was a Sick Trick contest only that I won with a Underflip re-entry and 360 re-entry.” Taylor thanks all his sponsors and put it in his own words “Just back from Daytona Freeride, thank you Thrust, Hydro-Turf, Dasa, Rickter RRP, Power Factor Products, Jet Pilot, My newest sponsor Cut Above Natural Stone, and Most of all Nick for another amazing event. We rode in a lake Friday with crazy action behind Josh and George's boats. Saturday surf was fun in the morning, Sunday pretty small but we made the best of it. Really cool watching everybody pushing themselves and progressing the sport. Big thank you to Hot Products for the Cover of the new catalogue. Stoked! Pat you’re the Man! Βest of all big thanks to Factory Zero and there best totes in the world for getting my ski in and out of the water.”

>Gomez signed with Trinity Composites

Gomez recently announced his cooperation with Trinity Composites “ I am happy to officially announce that my 2012 hull will be a Trinity Matrix ES after market hull, built by Bobby Howering of Trinity Compsites in Florida. This last weekend, I had the opportunity to meet with Bobby while I was in Florida for the 8th annual Daytona Beach Freeride, where I saw his shop, discussed the details, and signed the build contract. I have chosen the Matrix hull to be my next hull because of the bullet proof integrity that Bobby puts into his hulls and the unique style of the ski itself. During the entire 2011 season, I had the opportunity to ride many different hulls. However, at This and last year’s Daytona Freeride, I rode a friend’s Matrix hull. In no time at all I was able to ride it just as well if not better than on my freeride Superjet. The Matrix hull has similar characteristics of a Yamaha Superjet platform yet has front nose rocker technology, splash guard, wider bond rail, advanced front sponson design, and adjustable bolt on hull length pieces starting at -4 inches shorter than stock. These advanced hull concepts will help me achieve a greater riding style and up the amplitude of my aerial tricks in 2012.
