>Blowsion facts

Blowsion is well known for its dedication on designing special parts for Ski’s and we have seen that the company actually produces so many small, nice and tricky parts. We were wondering how did the company managed to produced all these parts by CNC machining while keeping the cost at a reasonable level. The answer came straight to us by its owner John Dady. “For aluminum manufacturing we do all of our CNC machining with about 10 different machine shops. Most are in our local area. We do only the product design in-house. On that same note all of our anodizing is done locally as well with three different anodizing vendors. Because of the hazardous chemicals required in anodizing it is very difficult to do this kind of work unless a business is specialized in only that process. The Kawasaki Green is the most challenging color we offer simply because it is a very difficult shade of green to anodize. We are lucky in that the company that does our Green color also does all of the aluminum baseball bats for www.Deemarini.com so we share the costs of formulating this special green with them.”

>A very tricky SX-R

We had the great opportunity to test ride Henn Linth’s SX-R in Havasu. An SX-R that features twin modified dry pipes, special cylinder head, watercooled crankcases and lots of other interesting parts. Linth approached the whole project from a different angle and he managed to get 66mph of top speed by running the engine on pump gas. We also feature some photos of his interesting GP ski. This is very impressive. Read the complete report under the Race Tests section.

>Blaine Spires and Chad Cole

Blaine Spires has been crowned IJSBA Pro AM 785 World Champion 2010 and also he is the current World Record holder Expert 785 Slalom without forgetting that he has won 3 National titles. According to Chad Cole of Straight Line Performance who put everything together in order to prepare a race winning package “there are affordable options to go racing”. And this is what Blaine Spires did. On the other hand he worked hard on practicing in order to be able to push to limit the nineties Runabout. This is a perfect example of what can anyone achieve without spending tons of money on highly tuned four-strokes.

>FrogZskin from Blowsion

Frogzskin woven water screens are the latest intuitive technology answer in the constant horsepower battle between today's high performance engines requiring more and more air, yet still keeping out the resulting ingress of destructive salt and fresh water. Some of us had tried it in the past by using old carb covers that were designed for the same purpose. We were cutting and putting these screen by using Sikaflex or Silicone. Frogzskin's open mesh intake design increases airflow, while reducing performance loss due to taping off your air intakes in order to keep your engine compartment dry and pistons firing. Frogzskin's manufacturing process utilizes the latest technology in Micro-Fiber materials. Frogzskin's special woven material vent covers are manufactured to specific quality standards allowing maximum air-flow, while employing hydrophobic characteristic that repel water intake. Industrial grade adhesive edge binding allows for a fast and easy peel-n-stick application. This combination of materials has been thoroughly tested to meet the demanding requirements of watercraft abuse in recreational, racing, freestyle and freeride watercraft environments. Available from Blowsion and Straightline Performance also at Universal kits.

>Rius, with a different set up

Frenchman Nicolas “The Fighter” Rius uses the new hull that Lee Manvell perfected this year. It is the one we tested along with R&D (92+mph FZR) after the World Finals. We noticed that Nicolas still uses a set of R&D 15F sponsons on this new hull but he has changed the set up of the blades and placed them on a different position and angle. Since he managed to win for a second year in a row at King’s Cup we are not in a position to criticize his new set up. Rius is known for his aggressive riding style and that is the way he sets up his race crafts.

>R&D tested a new Watercooled SC

Glenn Dickinson of R&D has just informed us that he has finished a few test samples of the brand new watercool Supercharger and Bill Chapin did the initial test today (Friday). The only change Chapin made to his test boat for the first test was the new watercooled housing. The baseline of the boat, which had a reprogrammed ECU with the rev limiter was set @ 9000 rpm, had 16.5 psi boost @ 8750 rpm with the stock housing. With the new housing, the engine now stays on the rev limiter with a boost of 18psi. Bill has to raise the rev limiter up to find out how much better it really is. But initial test is at least 1.5+ psi better and 200+ rpm. Not bad at all for first day testing. We are expecting to receive some pictures of his Supercharger soon so we will be able to reveal more information about it. R&D expects to raise the performance of the FZR platform vertically next year. The photo simply illustrates R&D test bench as we tested last October.
