>“Ripper” on the move

Ex-Freestyle champion and stuntman Larry Rippenkroeger was present at the World Finals along with producing partners, Kyle Collinsworth and Greg Pellerito will be attending this year’s World Finals accompanied by a film crew shooting footage to be used in a feature film entitled “Hot Water”. According to Rippenkroeger “I’ve always wanted to bring some of the fun and excitement I experienced on the IJSBA tour to the big screen. We have a great script, a great director and are in the casting process with some of the top names in Hollywood”. Rippenkroeger and his production team did not want to miss the opportunity to capture the excitement of this year’s World Finals. Filming was continued in Havasu even after the World Finals. We hope to hear soon from Rippenkroeger further details of this upcoming Film.

>Kawasaki: Tribute to 37 years of Jet Ski

hen Kawasaki launched SX-R 800 back in 2003 celebrated its 30th anniversary in the Jet Ski scene since it was the first manufacturer to produce the magnificent stand up that made the world spin around and get in to a new water sport. 2011 will mark, most probably, the end of the stand up era (equipped with 2-stroke engines) and possibly the thrilled Jet Ski that Kawasaki had produced 37 ago. This anniversary Logo Kawasaki introduced to the last 2-stroke Stand Up model that came from the production line.

>Champion talks about the Electric Ski

Freeride rider Ross Champion and tuner Steve Webster of Kommander Ind. were both involved into a project of an electric powered Jet Ski. During the World Finals we met Ross Champion and he assured us that the particular project was very interesting though the current technology is very difficult to support such an idea. He was focused mainly to the technology of the batteries as well as the electric motors. On the hand the overall approach was very good since it enables the engine to operate in a sealed engine compartment which is very important for the Ski riders as well as for those who go Freeride or Freestyle. The team, Champion and Webster have seized this project for the time being since they could not find economic support.

A visit to Jettrim right after the World Finals gave us the opportunity to take a look to this unique, one of a kind Kawasaki JS 440 owner’s manual. It belongs to Gary Hart of Jettrim who actually is the owner of this particular Ski.Gary along with vintage freestyler Ty McFarland put together the magnificent Vintage Ski Museum that was set up in Performance Alley at the World Finals.
