>Mac Attack wins Pro Runabout Stock in Panama City

Multi National and World Champion Chris “The Mac Attack” MacClugage put it in his own words “ I raced the new 2012 RXPX SEA DOO. I didn’t holeshot the first race on the RXPX; I ended up starting up in second place off the line. Ermino was in front of me in the runabout start, I passed him about the sixth lap. The RXPX is just so way faster than I could have hoped for….second Moto and third Moto, repeat performances. I didn’t want to jump the start, so I held back slightly to see how the RXPX package would handle on the track conditions, once performing at peak I let the RXPX run away. Three different runs and each one the RXPX was a focused assault. I watched the lines on the water, hitting the buoys perfect, and still able to pull away. But I was riding conservatively, not beating the boat up…literally dancing with the RXPX at wide open throttle. I’m satisfied with the RXPX. We proved the point that we can make an SEA DOO work very well. Comparison: nobody was close, speed; handling and performance, considering a lot of the competition are seasoned and winning veterans. I can contribute a lot of this to Pete at MoTeC because he’s put time into the tune on the RXPX. Daniel my mechanic at Macc Racing and Skat Trak with the impellers, everything pulled together for the repeated wins, thank you.”

>Goodchild beats Marmon in Plymouth

London, Monday, 21st May, 2012 – Jim Goodchild (Hemel Hempstead) made a stunning debut in the P1 AquaX Championship by winning both the opening rounds in Plymouth over the weekend on his Kawasaki Ultra 300. Making the most of the calm waters, the 48-year old was in imperious form streaking away from pole position to head the 22-strong field into the first mark and then going on to lead every lap of both races. Goodchild gave an early season wake up call to reigning AquaX Champion Russell Marmon (Christchurch) who chased the double race winner in vain. “To be honest I did not come to Plymouth expecting to win, so I am really pleased”, said Goodchild. “Sunday’s race was really close, Russell kept me honest all the way but I held him off right to the end and I am really pleased with the weekend’s result. I will be getting some more hours riding on my ski before Hull as I know it’s going to be a close fight between us all year.” Marmon admitted he is relishing the friendly rivalry and the new challenge from Goodchild. “Jim’s a great rider who has won a lot of races, so to be honest I don’t mind coming second to him”, said Kawasaki Ultra 300 rider Russell. “I didn’t really prepare enough before this round as I have been concentrating my attentions on winning the 300 mile Iron Man Havasu Race in the USA where I won the Elite 300 class.” Another newcomer filled the final podium place in Plymouth , with Tim Batte (Hinckley) finishing third in both races on his Kawasaki Ultra 300 ahead of last year’s Vice Champion Richard Cable (Bradford), who got his campaign off to a solid start with two fourth places. “I got in front of Russell at the start of the second race and felt really good, although he passed me and pulled away I did start to catch him towards the end but ran out of time”, said Tim. “It was hard work but I felt really competitive and was surprised to beat Richard as he was the only rider to beat Russell last year. I think I can get some more speed out of my ski so hope to be challenging for a win in Hull.” Mat Shipley (Seaford) took an early lead in the new 250 Class by winning Saturday’s race and finishing second in Sunday’s encounter to last year’s Am300 Champion Dave Huddleston (Milton Keynes), who missed Saturday’s race completely. Plymouth rider Tim Cope used his knowledge of the Sound water to score second and third place finishes on his ScoprionTrack Yamaha FZR so now lies second in the points standings. Reigning 200 Class champion Duncan Johnstone (Fareham) was in great form, winning his category in both races. “Solent Skiers Club riders were 1, 2 and 3 on the podium on Sunday which is a very good showing for the beginning of the season”, he said. “It’s looking like our club is becoming a good breeding ground for the AquaX series, with fellow club member Andy Steele being just 300 metres behind me.” AquaX 300 Class provisional points : 1 Jim Goodchild (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 40 points; 2 Russell Marmon (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 34; 3 Tim Batte (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 30; 4 Richard Cable (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 28; 5 Ian Moule (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 26; 6 Steve Robinson (Sea-Doo RXP-X 260) 24; 7 Lukasz Kwiatkowski (Sea-Doo RXT-X 260) 21; 8 Kevin Ashley (Kawasaki Ultra 300) 21; 9 (Paul Rivett Sea-Doo RXP-X 260) 9; 10 Wayne Curtis (Sea-Doo RXT-X 260) 8. >UWP-IJSBA USA TOUR Panama City: Pro Freestyle, 20-5

In the Freestyle Exhibition, amateur Daniel Martin continued to impress with a routine that included a backflip to 180 nose stab and a back flip rail grab. This kid will be someone to watch all season long and at the World Finals in Lake Havasu. Jeremy Parr again looked very good with his old school run but without the power of his front line boat he was unable to get enough air to impress the judges and over-take this week's winner Jason Stoyer. Stoyer was flat out dancing on the water on his XScream, Bluefox, Hydro-Turf hull and I heard editor in chief of Pro Rider Magazine, Michael Ratti comment, "I have been watching Jason for years and that is the best run I have ever seen him turn in."" Jason put together a three backflip combination in less than two feet of water that really got the crowd going and you could see that ""The Destroyer"" was definitely feeding of their energy."

>UWP-IJSBA USA TOUR Panama City: Pro AM Runabout 19-5

SuperCup of Watercross Returns to Panama City Beach, Florida - May 19-20. The weather Saturday in Panama City Beach, FL was absolutely perfect for the first stop of the Hydro-Turf UWP-IJSBA National Pro Watercross tour. The venue at the Boardwalk Beach Resort was pristine and conditions on the water lent themselves to very fast racing as we kicked off the day with the Pro Runabout Open class. The transition to Yamaha went smoothly for Monster Energy rider Dustin Farthing in his first big test aboard his new boat. Dustin came off the line cleanly and set a solid pace winning by nearly half a lap. His Dad could be seen along the shore giving "The King" the high sign to back it down a little and conserve the boat which Farthing did after the halfway point. "Flyin'" Brian Baldwin brought his Champion Powersports Sea-Doo X-Team number 4 across the finish line in second position holding off the late charge by the Judge Motorsports Sea-Doo of Claude Clayton who finished on the final step of the box.

>UWP-IJSBA USA TOUR Panama City:Pro AM Ski GP, 19-5

In the Ski-GP class Paul Puchaski pulled the hole shot aboard his Judge Motorsports Hydrospace, but he was pressure from the first turn by Monster Energy, Macc Racing, Sea-Doo rider Chris MacCluggage. Mac worked Puchaski hard for the entire first lap and made a very clean, but aggressive pass just past the checkered buoys at the end of lap one. It was surprising to see Chris go for it that early in the race but when I talked to him afterward he said Puchaski mentioned having stability issues during practice and Chris knew he could get by him cleanly and make tracks early in the race. Rob Flores held the second spot until about the mid-point in the race when he suffered a mechanical issue aboard his Rockstar Energy, Race-Ski.com Kawasaki that put him out of the race and allowed Jimmy Wilson of Concord, NC to take over the second spot on his Hurricane Racing, Optima Racing.com, Kawasaki. The number 912 of Rick Sherker had to battle from way back in the pack to bring his Bullet Racing, Jet Tribe, Riva Racing boat to the final podium spot of the moto.
