>P1 set to expand with the purchase of Europe’s Jetcross Tour

Estavayer-Le-Lac, Switzerland: Global marine motorsport promoter P1 announced today that it has purchased Europe’s leading PWC promoter and race series, Jetcross , after raising £1.5m from investors for its global expansion plans. This announcement comes after P1 launched the AquaX Pro Enduro and AquaX Pro Sprint series in the USA earlier this year. Since launching AquaX in the UK in 2011, P1 has grown the series through a logical racing structure from novice to elite racers. Jetcross is P1’s first acquisition since it bought the Honda powerboat series in the UK in 2010. Lisa Barsby, Head of AquaX - International said: “The owner of Jetcross , Julien Bastien has built a reputation in Europe as the leading PWC promoter for stand-up circuit racing. His understanding of what racers want and the marketing profile of his events has committed the best riders from around Europe to his Tour. We are very excited to amalgamate Jetcross into P1 and we look forward to the continued rise of PWC racing in Europe, Asia and the Americas”. Julien Bastien commented: “I have followed the success of AquaX since 2011 and seen it gain a reputation as one of the most professional and high profile PWC promoters in the world. I want the Jetcross brand to become a world leader in PWC racing and I believe that this merger with P1 will allow this to become a reality. I can’t wait to get started”. As part of the deal, Bastien will head up P1 European events as well as providing guidance and experience to the overall P1 AquaX global expansion throughout Asia and the Americas. Barsby will continue in her role as Head of AquaX - International. James Durbin, CEO of P1 “This move is a significant statement regarding our commitment and expansion plans for PWC racing. Following the ground-breaking TV deals with FOX Sports and NBC in the USA earlier this year, we needed to expedite our European expansion plans to capitalise on the exponential growth and profile that AquaX has created. Jetcross is a strong brand with a superb reputation for promoting PWC racing and we are delighted that it will now be part of the P1 family of marine racing brands”. P1 AquaX will join Jetcross as separate events this weekend at Free4Style in Estavayer-Le-Lac, Switzerland. The 2016 P1 AquaX Pro Enduro series also continues this weekend with Round 2, sponsored by Budweiser, being held in Sarasota, Florida in front of an anticipated crowd of more than 80,000. Both events will be broadcast in more than 140 countries on major sporting networks around the world. >Official Race report of Toshiyuki Ohara

Japanese rider Toshiyuki Ohara participated in the fourth Round of the U.S. ProWatercross Tour in Utah: “I was participated to fourth round of the ProWatercross National Tour at St.George Utah was totally excited. The reason of why I was coming for US is to make setting and practice with ProForce for World Finals. Also joined to the ProWatercross National Tour was part of the practice for us, therefore we didn’t care about what places we will get in all of the motos. There are everything we thought so before the race. I arrived to Lake Havasu City at 18th June and started testing the ProForce. At first, I tried to understand the feeling of ProForce. But I didn’t take time to get used to that ski because the ski was almost perfect setting and quality for all riders. So I tried to make more comfortable (change the length of handle pole, bar, make different shape ride plate) before we leave Lake Havasu. The result in Rd.4 was 1-5-1, and then I took the victory in overall of Pro Ski GP. In Moto#1, I was 2nd in beginning of second lap. The ProForce is very reliable even I chasing the someone every single lap. So I didn’t need to be push hard for catch the front of me. Luckily I became to 1st place in fifth lap, after that I lead away from 2nd place. In Moto#2 and Moto#3 were both of moto I was 1st place from first lap. Then finally I got 43 seconds lead from 2nd place. Honestly, I’m so happy to be 1st place in ProWatercross Tour. I think I could show the high performance of ProForce to the entire world. I really appreciate to Pro Watercraft Racing and Chris Hagest. I can’t wait to world finals and we wanna get victory at there also.”

>Kevin Reiterer reports from Spain

23.-25. June 2016, Denia, Spain World Championship: The second round of the ABP Aquabike World Championship took place in beautiful Denia, Spain. Another open ocean race made up for an exciting battle of the best riders in the World. Coming into this event as the points leader was Austrian’s Kevin Reiterer and current World Champion. After qualifying in fourth Reiterer quickly made ground on leader Jeremy Poret (FRA). After passing the Frenchman Reiterer fell into a series of mistakes including a missed buoy. “I wasn’t a 100% in first Moto and after the buoy mistake I could not get back in my rhythm and lost ground.” says the 23 year old. Second Moto started equal to the previous race. Jeremy got the Holeshot and Reiterer started to add pressure. Inching each lap closer to Poret the Austrian powerhouse was defeated by a broken driveshaft in the seventh lap. Poret taking home to GP of Spain victory and having a solid points lead in the overall standings inching Reiterer back on fourth position. “The track was tough to pass, so I had to push the ski and myself to the limit in order to get to the lead. Unfortunately that resulted in a breakdown. The Championship is not over. We know we have got the speed and ability to make it happen. Congrats to Jeremy for his first win this year.” explains the devastated sports student. The third stop of the World Tour will be held in the beautiful Shanghai, China on the 23-25, September. Till then Reiterer will participate in a series of other events in Europe.

>Flores raced in Utah

Flores raced in Utah Struggling to keep up with the sport finances Rob Flores managed to attend and race in the fourth Round of ProWatercross Tour in Utah. Talking exclusively in Jetskiworld.gr he mentioned the following: “I only raced the first motos of each class on Friday. I was happy with my speed and stamina considering it was first time on a track since World Finals. The problem was my lower back was locking up from no practice or training so I didn’t want to damage myself and didn’t ride the other motos. However, I was happy. I wanted to gauge my boat and my speed on the track and I was pleased with both. The training part and getting in race shape is the easy part.” The photo was taken at Body Beach last February when Jetskiworld.gr tested Flores skis.

>Kommander reports from Utah

Official Race Report of Kommander from the Round 4 of ProWatercross Tour: Round 4 of the national tour was good but very frustrating at the same time. Moto 1 I was able to get the holeshot and had a strong race going until lappers . When I reached the lappers some did not see us coming but some riders decide to race when they are a lap down. I ended up tangling with lappers that caused me to loose the lead at that point .Moto 2 and 3 we had the same issue with lappers getting the blue flag and not ever moving over during the whole moto but instead racing and taking the main line. We could of had great racing but this ruined the event but until the officials enforce the rules things will not change. Hopefully we won't have issues like this again but who knows. We want good racing to grow the sport and put on a good show for the crowd. There are many good riders and skis and the competition is very good in the USA right now but we need a fair playing field for all riders. Hopefully we will get this again in the future. If we continue like this, riders will end up getting hurt with the on track actions that are currently happening. Photo courtesy: Dustin Motzouris
