>Vallentin Dardillat reports from Austria

Pochlarn in Austria was the host venue this weekend (July 19-20) for the second of the three rounds of the European Championship. Leading after the opening round, Valentin Dardillat again imposed his dominance, having notched up two victories and a 2nd place by the end of the weekend. Consistant, quick, and incisive runs saw the champion and his Cobra Watercraft confirm the expectations of his fans and supporters, and further widen in the gap to 2nd place Kevin Reiterer. The championship final will take place on August 24 in Doncaster. “There is no qualifying and the choice of grid placement is made according to the championship standings so I was able to place myself where I wanted. It was a very fast track and I hoped to get a good lead. In the first race I was third to begin with but I quickly managed to take second place. Kévin had a decent lead and I had to settle for second place. But in the next race I got a better start, I went ahead immediately and I kept a clear advantage until the finish. I also won the last race on a technicality.” The last moto was mysterious. “"Well, I was third. I was gaining time on the two leaders but they were faster than me on the bottom section of the circuit and they pulled a gap on me. However, they unwittingly went the wrong side of a buoy and it was deemed by Race Direction that they had benefitted from it. Therefore they were penalized and that put me in first place. This kind of thing rarely happens, and I know they weren’t deliberately trying to cheat. I took the overall win and I’m really satisfied and looking forward to the next race."

>Blowsion Racing Update

Closed Course Moto Surf racing is back for 2014, however we have changed the registration approach this year to adapt to the challenges and cost planning for all involved. We will need 20 confirmed Racers (combined from Pro and Amateur classes) pre-registered by August 15th 2014 in order for us to cover the cost of running a full closed course buoy course. The online registration link is here: https://www.blowsion.com/2013-blowsion-surfslam-race-entry-fee. This registration fee cost will not be billed at the time of registering. You will need a valid credit card to register, however we will not be processing any charges until September 1st after we have confirmed and met the minimum rider registration needed to hold full closed course races. What happens if we don’t meet that minimum? Never fear—we will go to a “Dash for Cash” race approach with a simple five buoy “W” formation course and maximum payout based on number of riders who have registered. Once registered you will be contacted via email with continued updates as well as news postings here and on the Surfslam website. For those riders and racers wanting to test the water and see what Moto Surf riding and racing is all about before jumping in to a full race moto we will again be offering monitored practice and training sessions on the left and right turn buoy race course. >Kevin Reiterer reports from Europe

“What can I say... I did everything to get the European title and would have won it. But after a buoy went lose on the track in the last Moto and due to the track changes they did that weekend I got confused and went twice to a wrong marker. I realised it and picked up the black buoy a couple of times because I had a big lead anyway. After the Moto we had a meeting with the three podium finishes about the penalty. Peter de Smet took responsibility for the track and said we should be voting for the decision and they will decide. Valentin Dardillat would have gotten second if I didn't get a penalty. he didn't want to win that way and voted for no penalty and he was confused as well on the track. However the race organisation decided that I will be penalized. I am not the only one I guess that has gone through a huge failure of the organisation this weekend. This is not how races should go and how European titles should be decided. As a matter of fact I will not be continuing to follow the last round of the tour, as well as I am out of the championship due to points already. Thank you to all the people that put a lot of effort in doing this event and showing Austria our sport! It has been a asshome! It's been a great pleasure to have Team Flamingo here and lots of family and friends supporting! And Valentin and his family for his great sportsmanship- you are the man! Thanks to all my sponsors: Commerzialbank, Ernst Just, Kylie Ellmers, Laura Ullrich, Benjamin BNI Francois, Yuki Francois Kurahashi and the whole Team.”
