>David Ohayon: The hidden ACE of Zapata Racing

Behind the great ingenuity of Franky Zapata, founder of Zapata Racing there is a very important person who actually helped Franky to design the famous Flyboard. David Ohayon is a specialist in fluid and aero dynamics who creates models and uses specific computer software to analyze the aerodynamics principals applied in various objects. Therefore, he can offer solutions in order to improve performance in those kind of fields. He has worked in the past with Total (Oil Company), Shark (Helmets), Car Racing Teams, etc. Zapata approached him a few years ago explaining to him the idea of having a tube attached to a jet ski pump and Ohayon applied the equations and fluid dynamics to a model prior creating the Flyboard. Ohayon is on vacation in Greece and we met him in Athens through his friend David De Palma owner of Flyboard Hellas which is in a partnership with Champions dealership. We thank Ohayon in advance for the great conversation we had and the projects he revealed to us. We shall simply say that Franky Zapata is not sleeping and he is a hard working person. Therefore, there will be more toys coming up in the near future from his company.

>Bob Phares, to coordinate WF Vintage Museum

IJSBA is very pleased to announce that Bob Phares will be coordinating the Jettrim Vintage Ski Museum at the 2014 Jettribe World Finals. The Vintage Jet Ski Museum will once again be part of the IJSBA World Finals at Lake Havasu in October. The museum has become the gathering spot for enthusiasts and racers of all ages. Dedicated to honoring the heritage of development and racing of early Jet Skis, the display is a must see when visiting the race site. This year one of the featured units is the reproduction 1977 Jet Ski ridden and raced by Bob “Phamous” Phares who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a ceremony Saturday evening. For the last 9 months Phares has teamed with Tsunami Jet Ski in Sacramento to put together the iconic racer. Crazy Lester reproduced the paint scheme of the original ride and Phares handled the mechanicals. The ski used parts, technology and accessories true to the era of the late 70’s. A super stock 440 with side draft carb is set up as the original racer. Stop by to see this and many other Vintage and Historical units and memorabilia in the Museum. You will most likely also see and visit with many members of the IJSBA Hall of Fame.
