>R&D flash ECU’s for Ultra

R&D is proud to announce their new Ultra reprogramming services. The research and development team at R&D have been testing and developing ECU programs to allow a range of performance levels that will allow new performance levels to be reached for the recreational enthusiasts who are not interested in the route of a full standalone aftermarket ECU. Entry level programs will allow the enjoyment of a raised RPM limit setting as well as the internal boost limiter being raised to allow R&D Monster Wheels to work to full potentials. Ignition timing will be altered to safe performance levels that will allow the use of 89 and 91 octane pump gasoline (depending on performance levels). After putting in the market the Reprogrammed ECU’s for Yamaha R&D will soon have available similar units for the popular Kawasaki. According to Glenn Dickinson of R&D these units will be available in the market in the near future. The illustrated ECU is the one that is currently available for Yamaha’s.

>Ultimate Ride from London to Sydney to Auckland

A team of New Zealanders and Australians are well into planning a world record personal watercraft record attempt by riding from London to Sydney to Auckland leaving London on 1st August 2010. The epic journey, named THE ULTIMATE RIDE, is being undertaken to raise awareness of healthy living and cancer prevention and to raise funds for cancer research. The brainchild of New Zealand born Australian and Qantas 747 captain, Jeremy Burfoot, The Ultimate Ride will set off from the Thames River in London on 1st August 2010. After crossing the English Channel, Jeremy and his co-riders will enter the Rhine at Rotterdam and travel east until they join the Danube and spill out into the Black Sea before travelling across the Mediterranean to Egypt. Once through the Suez Canal the journey will take them to India via the Red Sea and Indian Ocean before travelling onto Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, then down the Indonesian Archipelago to Darwin in Northern Australia. After rounding Cape York they will navigate down the eastern seaboard via the Great Barrier Reef and Tasman Sea to arrive in Sydney mid November 2010.They will then set off for Auckland via Fiordland and the East Coast of New Zealand and plan to arrive in Auckland at the end of November. The team will be working with cancer organisations in each country they pass through to help raise the profile of the event and it’s goals. The 32,000km ride will break the current personal water craft distance record of 18,400km by over 13,000km. Burfoot's reason for such an epic journey is based on his own dice with cancer and his desire to ensure funds are put into researching the one disease that both the developed and developing world are struggling to combat. In February 2006 Burfoot and a fellow Australian took their personal watercraft on a 5,000km, 19 day “warm up and shake down” ride around New Zealand. This was the first ever circumnavigation of New Zealand on personal watercraft and the resulting publicity and buy-in by a number of organisations, including the Cancer Society, saw Jeremy set a date of 1st August 2010 for The Ultimate Ride from London to Auckland. In terms of meeting the objective of raising global awareness of cancer there isn’t a better route available, nor a better opportunity for sponsors to gain the maximum exposure for their product or service in these markets, and at costs that are many millions of dollars below what they would have to pay to purchase similar coverage. Planning is now well advanced. The organisers have set up a trust and are seeking further sponsors to assist them with the journey as well as raising a voice in the international media on the need to raise funds for cancer research. Naming rights for the event and for the personal watercraft are still available. The website www.london-sydney.org has also been launched and will be used to track the progress of the journey both prior to and post the event.

>R&D SHO/FZR High Performance ECU Reprogramming Services

R&D is proud to announce our new Yamaha FZR and SHO ECM reprogramming services. There will be several initial performance levels to choose from that will work with either stock or R&D C1 and C3 Monster Wheels. Programs offered will be recreational performance tuned to safe AFR values, and can be further custom tuned (Richened) to accommodate additional boost levels. Existing customers who have purchased an R&D Powershot Fuel Control Unit can send their units in to R&D for free upgraded re-programming to allow custom fuel tuning to work with the new ECU Programs. R&D Powershot Fuel Control Units are not required on base entry (R1) programs using stock or C1 Wheels, however, custom fuel tuning can be an add-on or additional upgrade that is suggested for higher performance applications. Fuel tuning or AFR conditions should always be checked and verified as values will always be slightly different from one craft to another. Higher performing programs are also under development and will be announced through updates on the R&D web site, so stay tuned. R&D strongly suggests that AFR tuning be periodically verified using an Innovate Products LM1 or LC1 logging kit also available from R&D. Part # 802-01801 R&D ECU R1…. Reprogrammed ECU to allow up to 8500 RPM’s, Raised Boost limiter to allow 12-plus pounds (up to 17), and upgraded (slightly advanced) Ignition Timing safe for all recreational and offshore racing use. R1 works great with stock, C1 or C3 Monster Wheel Kit. 87 octane safe with stock and C1 wheels, and 91 octane pump fuel use is recommended for C3. Part #802-01802 R&D ECU R2…. Reprogrammed ECU to allow 8750 RPM’s, Raised Boost limiter to 17 pounds, Slightly advanced Ignition Timing for high performance recreational use.
