>Yama-Sea Doo marks 100+mph

WaterTop Unlimited? and Julio Rivera made personal watercraft history at the company’s recent RIVA Racing HydroDrag Spring Nationals with Rivera achieving the first documented 100 plus mph speed run reaching a top speed of 100.5 mph. The record speed was achieved during the Hydro Unlimited Speed Alley event during this past weekend’s HydroDrag National in Fellsmere, Florida. >Jet Worx Racing new ECU

Todd Boaer of Jet Worx Racing in Australia reports: “I have finally finished testing our new Axis 1 ECU It will be available from next week, its a complete plug in system no cutting soldering or extra manifold vacuum hoses, the ECU is 100% marinised it will be supplied with 1 of 3 maps, rootes , vortec or turbo it has been created in house not based on Microtec ( that were using for other applications) or any other system. The ECU can be tuned as either a piggy back or a stand alone system in map or tps modes, it gives 100% control over fuel & spark, still keeps all the nice factory warnings & alarms, security keys etc, has a built in data loging facility, with optional pulse width boost controler & other optional outputs if required. Pricing will be $1600us, Tuning software & cable will be an extra $200US.” Hopefully we will test this new ECU along with the Jet Worx pictured turbo kit for Ultra in Greece soon.

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. has announced that Shigehiko ("Scott") Kiyama, company president since 2006, will be succeeded in that position by Takeshi Teranishi, effective April 1, 2009. Kiyama has been at Kawasaki since 2002, serving initially as director of planning, marketing and sales. Kiyama will return to Japan and assume a new assignment as general manager of the Supply Chain Division, Consumer Products and Machinery Company, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI). Teranishi, who most recently headed the Sales and Marketing Division at KHI's Consumer Products and Machinery Company, is an experienced executive who has spent several years in the powersports industry. He served in various key planning positions while assigned to Kawasaki's European operations. Also fluent in French, Teranishi was first named to head the company's office in France, prior to transferring to its European headquarters in the Netherlands, where he served as general director of the Corporate Planning Division and the Marketing Division. Kiyama said the incoming president will bring a "considerable amount of consumer products background, and he is in a good position to quickly adapt to the market here in the U.S." During Kiyama's tenure at KMC, the company introduced several key products that have helped it increase market share. These class-leading models include the Kawasaki Ninja? ZX™-14 sportbike, the Jet Ski? Ultra? 250 personal watercraft, Teryx™ brand recreation utility vehicles, and the Concours™ 14 sport touring motorcycle.
