The exotic Super Jet of Nicolas Rius apart from its carbon fiber hull was characterized as special due its new engine since it was using a Yamaha power valve unit. According to Rius Racing chief mechanic, Christophe Girello the new engine was using R&D flat top pistons and rings, specially made carbs from Full Spectrum and an R&D exhaust system equipped with a Micro Touch water injection module. Cranking compression was kept under 200psi due to the power valves and porting was done in such a way that enhanced the torque rather than the top speed. As a result the craft had an amazing acceleration and a top speed of 1,5km less than last years Havasu spec. Girello assured me that we should expect a lot more to come next season.
