Klipper plan to go close course racing on his Yamaha FX SVHO and recently he decided to get powered by R&D. Bill Chapin worked on his boat in order to install R&Ds latest turbo kit for the Yamaha engine as we tested it exclusively last October (Read all about it in the story published in the Tests section). It is exactly the same turbo kit that now has been installed in to Klippers FX. The engine still uses stock cams, stock cam gears, stock fuel injectors, stock fuel pump, stock regulator, etc. However, performance wise it does 76mph at 7800rpm on 9-10 pounds of boost, 78-79mph at 8000rpm on 11-12 pounds of boost and 82.5mph at 8350 on 13-14pounds of boost and according to Chapin it is a ready to race Offshore weapon. We know for sure that Mike Klippenstein is always on fast boats.
