Frenchman Jean-Bruno Pastorello remind to everyone that he did not win Akropolis Jet Raid three years in a row by accident. He won both motos in the morning from Kalamata to Pylos and back covering 180km in a class of his own. He rode with strategy in order to make sure that he will not have any issues with fuel consumption. David Chassier was very consistent and he got a 2nd and 3rd in the two motos. Greek rider Akis Malouchos is the first Greek rider in the 6th overall position. Pantelis Politis DNF in first moto by running out of fuel. In the afternoon a close course moto will take place.

Akropolis Jet Raid 2014: Let the race begin Monday afternoon, 9th of June, the Technical Inspection was concluded and the Parade of Nations started in the main Street at the Port of Kalamata. Lots of local people and tourists were gathered in the Paddock of Akropolis Jet Raid to admire the race boats, teams and athletes. The Major of Kalamata City, Nikas Panagiotis started the Ceremory of the Race along with the Representative of Region of Poloponnisos and its representative, Ntina Nikolakakou. The riders were announced to reach the podium one by one and officially the start of the Fourth Akropolis Jet Raid was declared. On Tuesday the riders will depart from Kalamata to go to Pilos via Petalidi and then to Methoni and back to Kalamata. In total they will cover a distance of 230km and they will refuel twice. It will be a full-throttle race if the water conditions are calm since there will be no penalty if they use the extra 10 liter fuel tank

Although the Technical Inspection has not concluded yet the provisional rider’s Entry List is as follow’s: Akis Malouchos (Greece), Eric Lebas (France), Olivier Vidal (France), Bruno Vincendeaux (France), Jean-Bruno Pastorello (France), Tasos Ioannidis (Greece), Denis Lorentz (France), Stephane Breton (France), Paulo Dias (Portugal), David Chassier (France), Nikos Tomaras (Greece), Manos Pannousis (Belgium), Philippe Herve (France), Pantelis Politis (Greece), Panos Illiopoulos (Greece). This year many riders from Europe canceled their entry due to many reason, like engine problems from other races, accidents, etc. However, the are still some entries under consideration.

According to race director Bruno Casa this year Akropolis Jet Raid will be the most demanding event ever held in Greece. The rider who will overall will be the smartest rider and not the fastest. Some motos need great sense and ability in navigation and fuel consumption estimation. On Thursday the riders will cover a distance of 125km which is almost impossible to achieve it if you are only fast and not smart.
