Well, it is true. They made it in Japan and Phil Farthing, father of Dustin “King D” Farthing took a photo of them in Japan. It is amazing of what people can come up with. We do not know yet how effective these sponsons are but at least someone has tried something different.

Kawasaki XiR was an amazing Runabout in the early nineties and it has won World titles in the hands of John Stevens and Minoru Kanamori. This particular engine was photographed by Chad Cole and it under preparation. Note the PJS/XiR aluminum (not stainless steel) cast pipe, the black Westcoast head and the Vilder filters. At the rear there is no foam so all cooling lines are visual. According to Chad “this is a win or sink set up”.

The Farthing Racing Adjustable Steering System for the Ultra 300X has been designed and race tested by Dustin Farthing. This steering system is designed to give full adjustability without all the sloppy play that is found with the stock Ultra 300X steering system. The Farthing Racing steering system is made from billet aluminum and can be fully adjusted to suit any rider. Separate risers are available to adjust the height for closed course or offshore applications. This is Farthing’s new steering system and not the one he used last year on his World Title winning 260X in Havasu. Handle bars are sold separately. Available through www.mtn-motorsports.com

The particular photo (published by Joshua Paddock)illustrates another FZR project on the go prepared by Rius Racing. Note the new seat. A few years ago Lee Manvell has designed the first unit which was made for Nicolas’s race craft. We now that also PHXfab has made its own version that looked similar to Lee’s design. This particular one looks really nice with the custom made seat which is made by Jettrim under Rius Racing spec.

In the paste we published an interview of Frenchman Pierre Maixent along with a presetnation of one of his skis that was prepared by Blowsion. Usually the Pierre is riding a stock Yamaha hull that has been reinforced with mild tuned engine. Though, he ha had managed to pull his first ever double Rickter Invert on a Rick Roy’s hull two years ago. He also owns a shop and he sells among other things Rickter’s hulls. Recently he was pictured practicing on a new ski that is an FS-2 with a DASA engine.
