>Lee Manvell: The Hull man

There is a saying that states that behind every strong man, is a strong woman. Though, in the scene of personal water craft racing behind every single super fast and good handling Runabout there is only one man and that is Lee Manvell. The British born hull perfectionist tells us his story on his own words and what was done in order to reach the top stage of hull development. Read all about it on the exclusive report under the Features section.

>Warner/Sheldon Team Kawasaki’s Offshore Ultra spec

The boat Craig and Victor raced was an Ultra 250 hull (same as the Ultra 260). It had an Ultra 260X engine with 9.5:1 JE Pistons and a pink Subaru injectors (like the closed course boat injectors). It was equipped with stock fuel pump, stock air box but the Green Team used a programmable Mitsubishi ECU to increase timing advance, but anyone could simply use the stock ECU with a 4 degree timing advancer. The use of MS109 fuel (VP) was unavoidable since somehow the fuel burning had to cool down. The boat is mostly the same as what Botti raced at World Finals in 2008. The waterbox has the baffles removed and it had an 07 exhaust outlet (bigger than 08). The boat had a Macc Racing carbon fiber rear seat and the front seat was recovered by Hydro-Turf. The pump was stock but oil filled it to increase reliability. The impeller was a 260X impeller with an additional 1 degree of pitch on the trailing edge and we used an 80mm nozzle. The steering nozzle was also stock. The Team used a Riva billet steering system (made by UMI) with Riva bars. Finally, the Team used a quick fill system that used dry breaks made by IMS and Riva sponsons. Additionally, we know that Team Kawasaki altered the stock cooling in order to provide a better engine/intercooler temperature that enhances overall engine performance.

>R&D flash ECU’s for Ultra

R&D is proud to announce their new Ultra reprogramming services. The research and development team at R&D have been testing and developing ECU programs to allow a range of performance levels that will allow new performance levels to be reached for the recreational enthusiasts who are not interested in the route of a full standalone aftermarket ECU. Entry level programs will allow the enjoyment of a raised RPM limit setting as well as the internal boost limiter being raised to allow R&D Monster Wheels to work to full potentials. Ignition timing will be altered to safe performance levels that will allow the use of 89 and 91 octane pump gasoline (depending on performance levels). After putting in the market the Reprogrammed ECU’s for Yamaha R&D will soon have available similar units for the popular Kawasaki. According to Glenn Dickinson of R&D these units will be available in the market in the near future. The illustrated ECU is the one that is currently available for Yamaha’s.
