Upstate Watercraft Promotions, in conjunction with the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce that the City of Syracuse will be the host site of the 2008 Toyota US Open of Watercross; May 31 – June 1, 2008. The Toyota US Open of Watercross is expected to draw one of the largest gatherings of competitors in the country; participants are expected to travel from all over the country in pursuit of the champion title and a cash purse of over $10,000 dollars. The Toyota US Open is probably personal watertcraft racing’s most prestigious event and winning here means earning a place in watercross history. The Toyota US Open of Watercross will be held on the northern-end of Onondaga Lake in Syracuse NY – this lake has not been without its controversy. Once considered a “dead” lake, Onondaga Lake is a water success story – Onondaga Lake now hosts high school crew team practice and Pro Bass fishermen competitions. IJSBA World Moto Surf Championship to be held in Australia on May 4, 2008 On Sunday 4th May, some of the worlds best jetski riders will compete in the World Surf Moto, held in Australia for the third year running.This is the first year the surf titles have been held at Kingscliff and organisers are expecting a huge turnout. Riders will battle it out in the biggest and meanest surf in the world. Spectators are more than welcome to come and watch the racing (free entry) with some of the world and Australia’s best ski, runabout & sport riders who will be after a World Title. Riders from New Zealand and America are expected to attend. Past competitors at this event include Dustin Farthing, Chris Fischetti, Jeff Jacobs, Anthony Antees and Victor Sheldon. Personal water craft sales have increased substantially in Greece during the 2007 season. Overall 283units were sold compared to the 217units from the previous season. The growth of the market reached a 30.4% which is a remarkable bearing, taken in mind the average annual income. Yamaha topped the sales list by selling 177units giving the company the 62.5% of the Greek pwc market. It is important to mention that the sales figures do not include the sales of grey imports.

Frenchman Brice Lopez won the GP Ski class at last years World Finals. According to the Austrian company he plans to remain in HSR-Benelli this year and will race in the European Tour as well as the French Championship. Lopez demonstrates his passion for HSR Benelli at the company’s booth among the stuff that HSR-Benelli presented at the Paris Boat Show.

Since the previous World Finals it was known that Rius Racing was no longer supported by Yamaha. Therefore, the young Frenchman came into contact with the Austrian based HSR-Benelli in order to find some means of cooperation. Nicolas Rius is cooperating once again with famous tuner Bill Chapin in order to give a horsepower and handling boost to the HSR S4.
