>EJSBA New rules for Yamaha SuperJet/ SuperJet RR for Stock class

Yamaha Europe has asked EJSBA to update the SJ to the SJ RR and EJSBA agreed. Therefore, every owner of a standard Super Jet 701, old or new model, can now update their boat to SJ RR model 2006 spec. You will now be allowed to run the cylinder, piston kits, cylinder head and gaskets from the 760 “RR” specifications. We will also allow the use of Rius Racing hull extensions and the use of any aftermarket exhaust systems. If a new model of the Yamaha SJ RR comes out in 2008, you will only be allowed to update your old SJ to the new spec in 2009. >Panousis at the Podium of Jet Raid 2007

Greek rider from Kalamata Emmanuel Panousis (left) participates at the most demanding and difficult race, the Dakar of personal water craft racing Jet Raid since 1998, the year that marked the beginning of a new era. Two years later he won the Jet Raid on a Kawasaki Ultra 150. This year he took part with the French Team Audemar along with rider Bourseau. They rode a Yamaha SUV that was equipped with a fourstroke FX 160 engine and a specially made lightweight carbon deck. They made it to the podium and now they take a rest prior to their practice in the Caribbean in February, heading later on to the famous Guadeloupe race. More pictures of the duo in the Gallery.

The pictured engine is no other then the new three cylinder HSR-Benelli motori. The company uses this engine to the 3 new Skis as well as the 2, out of four, new Runabouts. It is a 4T engine, with max displacement of 1.098cc and bore/stroke of 82x60,2mm and a compression ratio of 12.5:1. It power ranges from 100hp, to 142 and up to 162-172hp. It is fed by an EFI system and the head cover is made by carbon fiber. Note the racing type air filter.
