>Aero engine just too powerful for jet ski rivals

Posted on December 16, on http://abgns.wordpress.com. MUSCAT, 16 Dec. – Teenager Aero Sutan Aswar became the youngest competitor to win an Asian Beach Games jetski gold. The 16-year-old Indonesian, roared to victory in the runabout endurance open at Al Musannah and credited his success to an ability to “read the waves”. Sutan Aswar won both motos (heats) to clinch gold ahead of Thailand’s Kritsada Wuttithosaporn, while bronze went to Athletes from Kuwait’s Mohammad Albaz. “I tried to read the waves, and tried not to jump but stay on the water,” Sutan Aswar said. “I did it better than the others.” In the runabout endurance open, jetskiers race around a five-kilometre buoy course for 30 minutes. Silver medallist Wuttithosaporn admitted he did not adapt well to the wave conditions, saying the sea was too calm for him. “In Thailand, our training course was a lot harder, with a lot of jumping,” he said. “This course was easier, yet it was harder for me because there were a lot of turns and I’m not very good at turning. “It was also tough because I’m 28, and he’s 16, so it’s probably not the same level of fitness.” Bronze medalist Albaz also found the Runabout endurance open challenging. “I feel very tired,” he said. “The race was very long.” Bill Chapin of R&D had prepared his Yamaha with all parts we had actually tested in Havasu two months ago. It was a limited FZR that smoked its competitors with younger Aero on its seat. Last October Bill Chapin had predicted that this kid from Indonesia will soon become a World Champion and his was proved right. Photo courtesy: Bryn Lennon/Getty Images AsianPac

>Team Follmer sponsored by CP-Carrillo

December 18, 2010 – Fountain Valley, CA: R&D Yamaha Team Follmer is proud to announce the signing of a new long term marketing sponsorship with CP-Carrillo, the manufacturer of CP Pistons and Carrillo rods. CP Pistons is recognized as a technological leader in piston design and development for all venues of motorsports and has built a high quality reputation for manufacturing pistons built to perform and out last; especially in powersport and sport compact applications. After nearly 50 years, the name Carrillo is synonymous with high quality connecting rods. Carrillo has won more races in virtually every format of motorsports than any other connecting rod manufacturer – in the world. CP-Carrillo president, Barry Calvert stated that he was very excited to sign the agreement with long time PWC Offshore racer and factory YAMAHA rider Mike Follmer because of Mike’s many accomplishments and numerous championships in the PWC sport. “We will use Mike and his R&D factory YAMAHA Team as a platform to enhance and promote our involvement in the PWC market,” said Calvert, “and we will use his teams use of our rods and pistons to promote our full line of internal engine components specifically designed and available for all types of PWC’s.” 2011 will once again see R&D factory YAMAHA Team Follmer campaigning on their Yamaha FZR’s, but their advantage in this years annual points championship battle will be the new R&D Engines built and prepared by Bill Chapin and Glenn Dickinson of R&D Performance Products with CP-Carrillo internal components. Having been in the PWC sport for over 20 years, Mike Follmer had this to say about the new sponsorship agreement with CP-Carrillo; “I am honored to have CP-Carrillo on board and under the hood for the coming year. CP Pistons and Carrillo Rods are well established winners in all forms of racing and with R&D YAMAHA Team Follmer being added to their marketing efforts, I believe we will be able to continue moving forward towards additional championships.”

>Blaine Spires and Chad Cole

Blaine Spires has been crowned IJSBA Pro AM 785 World Champion 2010 and also he is the current World Record holder Expert 785 Slalom without forgetting that he has won 3 National titles. According to Chad Cole of Straight Line Performance who put everything together in order to prepare a race winning package “there are affordable options to go racing”. And this is what Blaine Spires did. On the other hand he worked hard on practicing in order to be able to push to limit the nineties Runabout. This is a perfect example of what can anyone achieve without spending tons of money on highly tuned four-strokes.

>Rius, with a different set up

Frenchman Nicolas “The Fighter” Rius uses the new hull that Lee Manvell perfected this year. It is the one we tested along with R&D (92+mph FZR) after the World Finals. We noticed that Nicolas still uses a set of R&D 15F sponsons on this new hull but he has changed the set up of the blades and placed them on a different position and angle. Since he managed to win for a second year in a row at King’s Cup we are not in a position to criticize his new set up. Rius is known for his aggressive riding style and that is the way he sets up his race crafts.

>Rius and Mac the main winners

Multi National and World Champion Nilocas “The Fighter” Rius was the winner of Pro Runabout Open class (he won 3 out of 4 motos) after dominating the opposition and proving that Rius Racing is building fast equipment. He retained his number one plate from last year in the particular class and he will be the man to beat next year. >King’s Cup 2010 Pro Ski report

There was great opposition and intense battles in Pro Ski Class at King’s Cup first two –out of four- motos between Japan’s Masaharu Takenoshita and USA’s Chris MacClugage. Each one of them won a first and a second place and they share equal points with two motos remaining. Third place overall is Japan’s Hideyuki Kurahasi a rider who was very fast at the World Finals in Havasu too. We were surprised to see Henn Linth from Estonia who replaced a countryman Junior rider in Pro Ski (since he was too young to compete in this class). Linth shares equal points in fourth place with Kyllie Ellmers and Omar Al-Rasid. We expect to receive the results of the final two motos soon. More info and results update at www.tjsba.com
