There are plenty and different ways to get a four-cylinder four-stroke engine out of a personal watercraft’s engine compartment when you are on a workshop. Though, when you are on the beach the possibilities are limited. Not for Factory Team Kawasaki Jet Ski that used the power of the hydraulic rear door of the truck to lift the engine out of Craig Warner’s race craft.

Undoubtedly R&D is most probably the only company which has done so much work and in depth development of aftermarket products for those Yamaha’s. Actually, the Havasu spectators had the opportunity to take a look at Chris MacClugage’s new Runabout that his Japanese mechanic “Chuta” was packing on Pro Sunday. The particular craft was equipped with a new turbo set up prepared by Chuta since MacClugage close cooperation with R&D’s Bill Chapin was discontinued. Chuta had prepared another turbo for Chris back in 2007 World Finals. Hopefully this time everything will go well for Chris’s new set up.

This is the most extreme design on a ski hull we have seen the last three years. The German builder has a great experience in the manufacturing process of carbon/Kevlar materials. In the past we had seen the hull he had made for Mark Sickerling which was a true masterpiece in terms of construction, quality and finish. His latest design illustrates eccentric lines in the transom and foot lifters. There is no doubt that Light Weight made a point at the World Finals with this exceptional Ski hull.

R&D and well known Off-Shore racer Mike Follmer gave us the opportunity to test ride this specially prepared Yamaha FZR which has won many races and is the most wanted Off-Shore race craft in its class. R&D’s proud to announce the new front mount SHO/FZR Pro Comp cool air filter Kit. The engineers at R&D have designed the Ultimate Cool Air Filter kit to feed the SHO/FZR 1800cc supercharged power plant. The system is designed and tested with boost levels above 23 pounds and speeds of 92+mph. The R&D System utilizes an oversized specifically designed 7.250” x 5.500” x 6” teardrop shaped R&D Power Plenum Filter w/crankcase vent that rubber mounts in the space over the top left side of the gas tank. The system ducts its air supply to the supercharger via an “Indy Car style” 3.5” Aluminum tube and couples to the supercharger with a 90° Nomex tapered reduction elbow.
