The Akashi factory has released the new line up of Jet Ski models, featuring five Runabouts and the original stand up. A new upadated version of Ultra sets new standards in the performance of personal watercraft. Kawasaki has also a new STX in its line up that provides a better overall package to the entry level pwc enthusiasts. History is about to repeat itself, as Kawasaki’s new Jet Ski? Ultra? 260X reclaims the title as the most powerful production PWC sold in the U.S. Only two years after shattering records with the supercharged and intercooled Ultra 250X, Kawasaki engineers have raised the horsepower stakes even higher with the new Ultra 260X. Increased compression ratio, new high-lift cams and revised ignition timing help boost the 1,498cc engine’s output by 10(1) horsepower. Combined with a new impeller to translate that enhanced power into thrust, the new 260X can accelerate harder than ever, delivering an electrifying ride that’ll thrill even the most jaded PWC enthusiast. The PWC community suffered a tragic loss this August when a drunk driver ended the life of Freerider Zach Waddle and his girlfriend Libby Davis. They leave behind a one year old child named Mason. The Blowsion booth at the 2008 quakysense World Finals will host a booth celebrating the life of Zach and Libby and their love of the PWC sport. This booth will feature Zach Waddle's Pro Freeride Super Jet on display, large format print pictures of Zach, Libby, and Mason as well as the unveiling of a billet aluminum memorial plaque that will be permanently located at Zach’s favorite surf riding beach in Pacific City Oregon after World Finals. There will also be a scrapbook for those who would like to leave the little charger a written message or photograph. Contributions for Mason’s trust will be accepted at this booth as well. Many of the world’s top Pro Freeriders (Ross Champion, Pierre Maixent and more) will be in town all week to support Zach’s memory and Mason’s booth, as well as being active fans of the racing. Coast Guard presents Boating Safety Award to BRP for Safety Initiative WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety recognizes Bombardier Recreational Products with its Boating Safety Award. The award is given to BRP for its commitment to improving boating safety through the introduction of an unprecedented electronically controlled hand-braking system on two of its most popular and biggest selling 2009 Sea-Doo? personal watercraft models. This intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR™) braking innovation adds tremendously to the safety provided by the off-throttle and off-power steering systems that have been introduced to the personal watercraft arena. It allows the operator to stop the personal watercraft within a remarkably shorter distance and maintain much better control of the vessel. The Coast Guard is optimistic that this innovative braking system will decrease the number of personal watercraft accidents, and the unfortunate deaths and injuries that can result from these accidents. “The braking capability of this new design is not just an evolutionary improvement but a revolutionary improvement to the safety of these vessels,” said Capt. Mark Rizzo, chief of the Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety. “Although this new braking system should help prevent some accidents, the Coast Guard continues its efforts to educate PWC riders to keep a safe distance from other vessels.”The U.S. Coast Guard's Boating Safety Office is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters.

The Japanese aftermarket company Sato Engineering recently released a new billet aluminium steering system for the new Yamaha SHO. The particular steering system is more rigid and provides better leverage to the rider. Ergonomics are enhanced as well as the endurance when riding offshore. Hopefully, the new Yamaha steering system will be on display at the company’s booth at the World Finals.
