>Yamaha’s new FX SHO engine

The new four stroke supercharged power plant consumes 71,3 l of fuel per hour by operating on the lab bench at wide open throttle conditions. The supercharger reaches a max boost pressure of 1,45bar and the engine is fully supercharged at approximately 5.500rpm., whilst the charger wheel spins at 70.000rpm. The intercooler lowers the inlet air temperature by 60ο Celsius. The engine dimensions are 780x480x555mm which proves that is more compact than the Kawasaki (730x545x495) and the Sea Doo (815x520x510). The SHO engine weighs 121kg whilst the Kawasaki motor is heavier by 20kg. Finally, the new SHO motor is heavier by 16kg from the MR1 engine that is still used in the FX series.
