>Ride magazine seized publication

According to Chris Manthos, editor in chief “Like many non-profit organizations across our nation, the AWA has faced its share of budget challenges. Unlike some entities, this Association cannot ethically run a deficit, nor incur any debt. In keeping with these sound fiscal policies we were forced to curtail issues and page counts of the member's magazine Ride. Such reductions were as disappointing as they were necessary. As the economy contracted over the past few years, the Association continued to fund Ride PWC Magazine, often at a net loss. Unfortunately, we have reached the same point that our fellow personal watercraft publications experienced recently; we can no longer, under the current economic environment, afford to publish Ride at the expense of our primary role; the PWC communities' access watchdog. There are simply not enough advertising pages to support the expense of the publication.”

>Ultra 300X with 290hp

We have heard a lot about the European Ultra’s and the latest news talk about the engine’s output. Due to the EEC strict emission laws the European Ultra 300X will produce 290hp but it will still have the same top speed as the American Edition. On the other hand Kawasaki, USA had informed us that the European Edition will not have the governor in the Electronics (that reduces top speed) which means that it could tope 70+mph. We will find out next week.

>Who is PHXfab.com

We are talking about the company, Precision Hitech Xtreme (PHX Fab) that is based in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The owner Phoenix Geyer designed and built the plug for the mold on the Sea Rocket Limo (42 passenger 52' tour boat). After the difficult part was done for the Limo Sea Rocket and the economy was slipping backward; Phoenix got laid-off as did 100's of other employees within the entire boating industry. This is the point where we had to "make" our own work not "find" work. We began with the expertise and inspirations from Lee Manvell of the Mod Shop. Manvell is a retired professional jet ski racer, who does the engines for many jet ski racers. Together, with Manvell knowing what was needed in the jet ski racing industry and Phoenix's skills in designing, developing, & manufacturing, came the making of new light-weight after-market body parts for jet ski racers. We have been to Hayes’s work shop when we made the story (published in Features Section) for Lee Manvell and we plan to do some more work with Hayes who has recently came to pwc market. The photo is provided by PHX Fab.
